halloween the adult table

I am a total holiday nerd, I think we’ve covered that before, so to me, Halloween is the mark of the beginning of my favorite time of year. And while I have never really dived into Halloween decor I wanted to have a little dinner party for a few girlfriends, so tonight is the night! What usually comes to mind with Halloween parties are of course pumpkins, skeletons, witches, spiders, ghosts etc. You know the usual suspects… but I wanted to to create something a little more unexpected, a table that is as elegant as it is spooky.

I kept the palette dark and moody, used this for the table runner, , , and found the deepest darkest blooms that my local grocery store had on hand. How perfect are these drippy ox blood colored Amaranthus stems? And speaking of blood… in lieu of a placecard, which also doubles as a favor, I filled with Compari for guests to take as a shooter or make a Compari tonic (just have tonic water, ice, and orange slices on hand).

For the floral pendant hanging above the table I twisted a coat hanger into a circle and used wire to wrap a few floral stems into a wreath. I topped it off with a to up the spook factor and hung it from the ceiling with black rope. For the floral arrangements on the table I chose three similarly colored flowers (Amaranthus, Quince and Scabiosa) and lemon leaf greens. It is a recipe that has saved me more than once. Keeping the flowers monochromatic makes it fairly effortless to create something beautiful and I’m all about the big impact with minimal effort these days.

It has been a while since I pulled a table together just for a fun night with the girls and bloody cheers to that. x

Happy Halloween.

family room update + before & after

I put a few finishing touches on our family room with the help of and thought it was time I share the before and after of the space!

Lulu & Georgia is one of my new go-to spots for decorative home items and as I shopped the site I found so many pieces I wanted to make mine. The next to the vintage chairs (that I finally got reupholstered, woo hoo!) is one of my favorites. I love that it is sculptural and functional and a little unexpected.

I added these cozy & for a little fall update and finally found the right to sit next to the sofa. The brass base is similar to our dining table but the thick wood top changes it up enough to not be too matchy matchy.

When we first bought the house, this room only had a tiny doorway entrance which we opened up to a 6 foot wide archway to create a flow from the living room to the family room. We also switched the windows out for french doors which brings in so much more light, painted, installed the built-in shelving, ripped out the carpet and installed hardwoods to match the rest of the house.

And now on to the before and after’s… READ MORE

Finished Studio Tour!

It’s Monday morning and I just took my tiny commute to our new office and I’m thrilled to share the finished tour with you. It all started with white paint, and a whole $&*# ton of it. The floor is a white epoxy and the walls, trim, and ceiling is Decorator’s White by Benjamin Moore. From there I found my , paired it with a , and ran with it. Enjoy! x

I found this vintage chair on Etsy and high-tailed it down to San Diego to pick it up. I loved the brass base and that it swivels, win win! You might remember the was actually the very first purchase. I wanted a big ole modern chandelier and made the perfect one.

I used a soft palette of mostly neutrals aside from the large dose of and green of the curtains and plantlife. The sofa easily became the statement piece. To bring just a touch of polish I used clear acrylic console tables as desks as well as a lucite and brass curtain rod and brought in pops of metallic like the copper chairs and metallic touches throughout the room.

I am slightly chair obsessed and when I saw the leather sling chairs from the I knew they were meant to be mine. Similarly so is the that is almost %50 sculptural, %50 chair and %100 amazing. I had been coveting the copper wire chairs for quite some time when I found them on and chalked it up to fate, and quickly added them to my collection.

I couldn’t find a credenza large enough that also didn’t break the bank so I made my own using Ikea’s Besta cabinets as a starting point (DIY to come). Another hack in the room is the coffee table. I had trouble finding one of those big enough as well. I wanted the coffee table to be a meeting place where I could spread presentations out and serve as a more casual conference table. So I used the top of a and arranged cinderblocks in a Y shape to serve as the coffee table base.

The far wall is used as a real life pin board where we have current projects in the works and off to the side hold upcoming/current products as well as various tchotchkes and pieces from our limited edition artist collaborations (there’s a new one coming very soon and all I can say is it is SO GOOD. Hint… there is a peek at it here, if you can find it!).

And finally, the wallpaper! I custom designed the wallpaper for the space and had it printed and overnighted to me by the lovely , just in time for my studio warming party, but I have some great news for those of you who wanted to get their hands on it. has picked it up and they will be producing this pattern as well as a few more of my designs for a collection of wallpaper to be released soon! I can’t wait to see my paper in some of your homes. xo

P.S. f you want to hear more from me about the space hop over to !

weekend stories // VC Polo Classic

Happy Monday! This weekend I literally stopped to smell the roses. SO MANY ROSES. It was one of my favorite events of the year, the Veuve Cliquot Polo Classic, where our usual sunday hiking spot (Will Rogers State Park) is transformed into the dreamiest event, , champagne, and the best people watching you could ever take in. The fashion alone creates quite a show but there is a Polo match somewhere in there as well. For a bigger peek into the event you can scour the hash tag… .
